Scoutmaster's Minute updates and ideas

FOUR-OH (SIX-SIX)

Updated: Jun 26, 2024

That's the call and response for our Scouts BSA Troop 4066; a single Scout announcing our first two numbers, the Troop finishing the statement with an exclamation. It's a simple effort to forge identity, boost morale and unite us all.

Is there anything more valuable than that in a community?

Troop 4066 at Eagle Cave in Blue Rive, WI. March, 2024

From the comfort of our air-conditioned home where I write this, it's easy to espouse these values; another thing entirely to live them. Like starting a diet or a personal budget, talk is cheap. The execution lies in a thousand daily decisions aligned with a goal. From afar, we're a group of campers working on knots and merit badges. But scratch the surface and you'll find a collection of young men, Scouts, leaders and neighbors leaving their climate-controlled comfort, swapping screens for scenes, offline and outdoors for challenge, opportunity and camaraderie. We're dedicated to the Scout Oath and Law:

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Those words read well on a blog, but they're for more valuable in practice. See our efforts in the photo gallery, our upcoming plans in the calendar, and if you're up to it, join us. You're welcome in our community.
