Troop-
I try hard to keep these emails as concise as possible, but it's worth a full review of what's happening over the next few months as we all begin plotting out our summer vacations. Below is a roundup of notes and items, all of which are listed on the Troop Calendar (please subscribe (please)).

Ed Bryant Scout Reservation 7/21-7/27
While a ways out, this is important to plan for now. Here's a signup genius page to indicate participation in this year's week-long campout in Mauston, WI. We'll need adult volunteers as well, whether driving to/from camp or for several nights while we're there. The $400 fee for the week includes all meals and most every activity (exceptions include ATV adventures and wave runners). Late fees are assessed on 5/1, so please fill this one out as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary charges.
Merit Badge University 5/4
The best opportunity to fill in any Merit Badge gaps needed for your advancement, or a great way to explore your interest and curiosities, the next MBU will be hosted at Camp Big Timber in Elgin. Click above to view the offerings and register.
Cub Scout Introduction at Grace Lutheran 5/9
We're helping make an effort to re-establish a Cub Scout Pack (K-5th grade) at Grace Lutheran, our Troop's Chartering Organization. Mr. Carioscio visited a recent Troop meeting to request the assistance of several of our Scouts to lead a Backyard Bass Fishing game with young attendees whose families are interested in joining a new Cub Scout Pack. Click the link above to signup and lend a hand.
Shabonna Lake Campout 5/18-5/19
Our next campout is a one-nighter. Click above to sign up and be awesome.
Memorial Day Parade 5/27
Area Scouts march at the tail of the parade with a massive (MASSIVE) American Flag. Volunteer hours for both Scouts and adults are also available here to help the OPRF Kiwanis Club setup, prepare, serve and break down the free hot dog stand at parade's end. Did you read that? FREE HOT DOGS! We'll be handing out informational cards along the way directing interested families to our new Troop website (keep readin'!).
Troop Meetings
The last meetings of this school year will be on 5/2, 5/23 and 6/13 at 7:30pm @ Grace. Don't miss em'.
Communications/Troop Website
Mr. Nash, Mr. Busa and I have been hard at work developing a Troop website to handle all of our communication needs, including recruitment, Troop resources and a streamlined way to avoid my lugubrious emails. We're excited to preview it with you all so we can launch in advance of the Memorial Day parade and share with attendees on cards to hand out along the route. Also, keep an eye out for emails from our new bsa.troop.4066@gmail.com address in your inbox. We'll begin communicating directly from this address soon to avoid all the clutter of so many personal addresses comin' at ya'.
Adult Participation
Though we strive to be a Scout-lead Troop, it's only through the support of a robust group of (good-looking) adults like you all that we thrive. I'm making an appeal to every adult reading this to consider how you can be involved in Troop 4066. Not only do we require at least two adults at every Scout function, there's so much happening behind the scenes besides campouts and Troop meetings. Don't like bugs? Attend a Committee Meetings to add your input. They're indoors! Can't make a weekend campout? Join us for an occasional Board of Review to help the Scouts advance ranks? Like pancakes and clean cars? Help plan a fundraiser event for the Troop (like a pancake breakfast or a carwash). Fascinated with planning, numbers, forecasts and Google Sheets? Add your name to a Committee role! Not only are you all welcome, but your time, skills and energy are essential to making and keeping this a vibrant community.
Holler back to this email with any thoughts, questions, and ideas.
If you've read this far, the code word is bugler.
